From RA to TA
So, as of recently I have been enjoying practicing varying builds in RA, and of course with 10 winning streaks spilling over into TA. Recently I have noticed monks (if you have the good fortune to get a monk) are having difficulty keeping themselves alive let alone the rest of the group. I'm not sure if it is due to inexperience or new skills like shadow shroud, regardless I have adjusted my build to help compensate. I went with a classic infuse health GB build the rest of the skills I won't bore you with. Not only have I managed to bail the monk out a few times with infuse health, I have gone on some nice winning streaks without monks being in our group. Now I realize in the end it is most likely luck of the draw whom are opponents are that contributed to my success, but I don't think the build is all that bad. The other day someone scoffed at me for running the "old GB build" (as my team beat his team).
I was just curious, anyone have any insight on why this build is so "laughable"? I realize it can be risky to play, if you lower your health and GB gets knocked out (black out/humility/interrupt/etc) you are in trouble, but every build has its short-comings, is there something I am missing?
Any insight would be appreciated.
*Oh and this is mainly bitching, I have noticed a lot of times when i go 10 streak in RA someone in my group will quit when we get to TA. I assume they are chasing the Gladiator's title, but that is just weak. Have the decency to play out the rest of your matches with your teammates, especially because they are most likely the reason you got that far in the first place.

The reason Monks tend to die first is because they get almost all the hate from the other team first.
Admittantly now and again the Mesmer will get similar hate but if that happens then the monk tends to have time to provide healing. If you have a Hammer KD/Axe War pressuring the monk constantly. 1 major e-denial or blackout pretty much means curtains for the monk.
Also notice if the whole teams hate is directed at the monk, the other 3 guys better capitalise on the free time to liberally distruibute hurt.
I don't see anything wrong with Infuse health + GB, just make sure you have a huge max hp and it should work quite well. Its quite expensive, since you will have to follow it with a decent afterspike which is quite slow on a necro.
Have ATB> demonic flesh running for a really risky but deadly GB spike and maybe Vamp gaze as an afterspike. xD

Those people "laughing" are probably just recalling back to their earlier GW days when they thought it was such a novel idea, and find it ironic that you're just now intrigued with the concept.

yeah been chasing the title again recently.. there's just so many coattail riders who either have no damage or shutdown skills in ra who are the FIRST to tell you something sucks.. if you get a group of 4 decent players it's almost automatic win to 9, then at 10 seems they always pit you against another 10 streak team- I've asked the other side a couple times and they were on thier 10th game going to team arenas also- usually a really fun fight that 10th one someone sees a w/mo hammer with lifebond- good build for 4v4 btw and gets called a noob by some cookie monster kid running 1 skill and has no res sig is the norm in ra.. I run a channeling rit been doing really well in there (even after the gaze fix) if your winning 10 streaks constantly who cares what they think

they are laughing because they view the build as "cheap" or in some way, shape, or form "unfair". the same way i laugh at touch rangers now, the same way i laughed at frag-vir spikers before frag nerf.

I totally agree. And what's worse, there have been times where I join in as a substitute for some rage quitter or disconnect, and the rest of the team gets their 10 before me. Usually I manage to get them to stick around (and go for 20!), but one time someone left before I realized it, then after about 12 timer restarts I told the other two to leave, then I joined a team of 3 that lost People, please don't quit at 10! RA is fun, but once you find a good team, keep it! Remold it if need be and take on the challenge!
